Day 30: The reason why you love SNSD.
Beware: This will probably be a long post.Honestly, when I first got into KPOP, I wasn’t a fan of Soshi. I prefered Wonder Girls back then. I think 2008 was really neck and neck between the two groups. I mean, even as Soshi had more sales than WG back then, but the popularity of WG’s songs were more widespread and popular. I remember when Soshi didnt even attend the 2008 Golden Disk awards, and Taeyeon said how disappointed they were that they couldn’t repay their fans. Looking back now, we can see how far they have come. So what changed my preference? It’s simple. Forever nine. The Soshi Bond :)
I have to say, personally I’m a very unbiased person. I dont particularly dislike any groups, cause they all have different qualities. However, one thing that annoys me is when antis say the only reason to Soshi’s breakthrough was because WG left to America. I think back then it was sooo much easier for the girl groups, as there weren’t many at all. Clearly, 2009 was Soshi’s year. But also, it was the year of Girls Groups. SOOO MANY debuted. No joke. 2NE1, 4minute, Rainbow, Secret, T-ara, After School, just to name a few. Its crazy. AND, with more competition, Soshi stood above the rest.
Like Sooyoung said, they went through so many things in order for nine to become one. Their debut days were filled with dissatisfied antis, misunderstandings and undeserved criticism. But they rose above the situation. Instead of giving up, they showed a smile, and forever a hard working spirit. Their utmost dedication is something to be commended for. Most of all. It’s their friendship sisterhood. Unbreakable. Whatever you throw at them, they stick together as one. I see so many groups breaking apart, gaining or losing members throughout their career, why? They lack that bond. Its not easy to train for 7+ years. But they never gave up. Never whined. Instead, they’ve shown a heart of gratitude. I posted this quote yesterday, it sums everything perfectly.“I did have some hard times back then. When I was there, I took the underground trains. If I wanted to be on a TV show, I had to go in advance to meet the producers and audition for them. Now, our schedule just fills up by itself. When we arrive at the airport, there are cars waiting for us. So when I went this time, I felt humbled. What I couldn’t do back then has become possible because I’m together with these eight. They all became even more precious to me.”- Choi Sooyoung (on the hardships of her Japanese pre-debut days)
When they won their GDA Daesang, what did they say?“Finally, we’ve become a Girls’ Generation you can be proud of.” - Sooyoung. There’s no one else more adorkable than kid-leader Taeng; There’s no one else more 4-dimensional than cucumber-hating Sica; There’s no one else more aegyo-full than DJ Sunkyu; There’s no one else more brighter than mushroom Tiff-manager;There’s no one else more funnier than Hyo-Choding;There’s no one else more prank-full than KkabYul;There’s no one else more food-lovin than Shikshin Sooyoung; There’s no one else more ssanti than Flounder Yoong; There’s no one else more innocent than Maknaeng; There’s no one else like Girls Generation.
